People will shout out prices until every item is sold. They just won't shut up until everything that can catch their eye is gone D: Damn, honey-cuties.

They won't give up on the item until they can't afford. Or until an item from the auction is, *by their opinion*, deservedly belongs to the another human, who bought it.
Good thing is, humans are getting more clever. They are not obessed with buying the whole market.
